Sound of Change – Supporting Buskers Beyond The Streets

Sound of Change

The world is filled with amazing street musicians, but their music rarely leaves the street or the subway. Hungry Boys, a POSSIBLE agency, decided it was time to give buskers an opportunity to be heard around the globe, no matter where they are.

Enter Sound of Change, an award-winning project that has created a record label for street musicians. To launch the project, three buskers from Moscow, Madrid, and Amsterdam were taken to a studio to record a song. We then made a short video documenting the process and their music was released on iTunes, Spotify, and Google Play, with all proceeds from each song going back to the musicians. Then we opened the project to everyone.

By uploading a video of a busker to the Sound of Change website, you can add the musicians’ details, geotag their location, and share on social networks using the hashtag #soundofchange. The Hungry Boys will then look for producers and other partners to help facilitate an opportunity for the musicians to record in a nearby studio. The platform also encourages young producers and directors with an interest in documentaries to showcase their talents.

The project has already garnered a series of awards, including AWWWARDS Site of the DayCSS Design Awards, and The FWA. In 2016, Sound of Change was also shortlisted for two Cannes Lions and has received extensive press coverage that includes Fast Co., ForbesLittle Black BookCream, and many more.
